Dioptres for Macro

I bought Digital Photo magazine the other day & read an article on dioptres for close up photography! Apparantly one can buy the 55mm filters in a set 1, 2 &4 etc! From reading that, I went to have a look on the web for Hoya filters & read that there is a Macro +10 in a 55mm that could be used on my Panasonic FZ30!!
Also mentioned in the magazine article was that there is a 3D dioptre, but that I couldn't find listed....perhaps it wasn't a Hoya & I should've looked at Kood! Has anyone used these filters & are they worthwhile getting! I phoned 1 or 2 camera shops, but they didn't hold stock of them & it seems to be only available via online photographic outlets!

On an SLR, I favour extension tubes over close up lenses, which are optically a compromise, though tubes also lose brightness.

I'm actually getting a close up lens for a friend from 7DayShop. Should be arriving in a few days.

I did use the +10 on the FZ10 many moons ago and found it quite effective.
Takes a bit of getting used to but, IMO, worth it. Just be sure to purchase a recognised brand.
You can pick up a full set of Hoya from ebay very cheap but you really want to makes sure they are unused to avoid the risk of smears etc.

I don't have a SLR, thats why I thought perhaps the +10 would be better than getting the set of close up dioptres 1, 2 & 4! Giving me better magnification for my favourite photography...macro! Do they clip on in the same way that the UV & Polarizing filters on Panasonic FZ30?

On the FZ10 they simply screwed in. I assume it will be the same for FZ30
