TTL Program AF Flash for Nikon F301, F401, F501

I expected it to work with my Fujifilm S9500, but someone told me it could break the camera if I tried it as it is not specific to this camera.

I have read my Fuji instructions relating to external flash and it says:

"Ordinary external flash units can be used. However, some camera-specific flash units cannot be used."

As this flash unit works with my Canon G3 Powershot, do you think it will be ok to try it with my Fuji S9500?

Search flashgun trigger voltages on the web. There is a site out there that list compatibility specs. Don't use it till you are sure it's OK. Too high a trigger voltage will damage your camera. I'll try to find the site (have used it before) and post a link if I do.

Ok found it. Go here for help. http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html

Thanks very much Ron. It looks to be a very informative site.

Unfortunately I cannot see what the trigger voltage is, neither in the instructions nor on the flashgun.

On that site it mentions Canon G3 Powershot should be below 5v, well this gun worked on my G3 without a problem and as the Fuji talks in the range of 400v I think it probably should be ok.

I may try to contact the Fuji site for a reply.

It is a bit of a problem I know, had to do the same search for my camera. Even purchased a flashgun that some one else had used on the same camera as mine then found that the trigger voltage was far to high. I didn't risk using it, sold in on and sourced a suitable flashgun from japan. It never used to matter in the old days but these new electronic cameras are a bit fragile. You can measure the trigger voltage with a meter across the flash contacts with the gun turned on and ready to fire. Take care though some have very high voltages and could give you a bit of a jump. Take it to a TV repair shop and ask them to measure it for you.
