  • faulty camera or is it me

    Hi

sorted the burning problem out, got another problem now

when i switch the camera on the lense comes out at the front, makes the annoying opening music then the picture in the lcd screen freezes in blurred mode and the camera will not turn off or operate in any way, nor are there any symbols on the lcd screen. the only way i can get it to turn off is to remove the battery replace then turn off, when i then turn on it does the same or every now and then it works right. its faulty guys isnt it, surely it cant be me this time.

my old 35mm camera was so trusty and loyal and it worked

possibly busted, however, if you say it freezes on blurred mode (and I really dont want to suck eggs here) are you absolutely sure your not turnng it on in play mode, rather than camera mode?

sometimes cameras have complete reset button, or its possible to upload new firmware via the memory card.

If its making silly noises, i am guessing it is a canon of some description? can you confrim waht camera it is?

Sometimes the memory card plays tricks (when it's past its sell by date).

Try several different cards. Also do a reset to factory settings and check for new firmware as coupkid suggests.

                Ah, dont lose hope Keith!

Digital, is much more fun that film. Go for a trust Canon, or Fuji, you shouldnt have any problems then!

Re: faulty camera or is it me

IMHO, that is a bad camera, or at least its not good . Chopper don't go get all disgusted with digital cameras over one bad experience, I to miss 35mm, but in a fond remembrance kind of way. I really realize the world moves on, and it doesn't stop for anyone, in spite of some of my rants about new windows, cell phones (which I arbor) , etc, etc.

My last camera purchase which was recently, after about 2 weeks I found had some kind of lens alignment problem. I simply with only a few threatening words to the store clerk, the company that made it, and everybody within 50 feet, took it back . The replacement is fine (so far), I feel like if the world of digital cameras ever settles down (probably after I am dead), and concentrates on getting something to work right, instead of playing "my dog is bigger than your dog", they might just be perfect.

But until then we will just have to put up with some minor annoyances, and smile about it, whilst biting our tongue.

Now what was that next thing, I was getting ready to discuss.

Re: faulty camera or is it me

right, camera now changed only after the asisstant tried it and it worked over and over and over again, said that as it was working they could not exchange it, so i muttered loudly and left the shop, before getting into my car tried camera and hoorah it didnt work it froze so i ran frantically back into the shop and said here Mrs this is what happens, to which she smiled and said ok we will change it, but they didnt have the same make or model in so i have had a fuji as Coupekid advised they were good, hope he can run fast if this goes wrong.

so the status quo is resolved im a happy bunny (for now), but i get the feeling i need to add

WATCH THIS SPACE FOR THE NEXT INSTALMENT OF CARRY ON CAMERAS

regards to all for advice and help

Steve those pictures are awesome. wow
