You seem to have the camera set on Shutter priority, and the shutter is set to 1.3 secs, and this is giving an aperture of f.8 However I see it was also on bulb, so was it a time exposure Maybe you had it set on nightscene mode?

If you had the camera set on Aperture priority and opened up to 2.8 maybe that would help, also you have an iso 400 setting on the camera though this may give a lot of colour noise.

Anyway, I had a play with one of your shots and managed to be able to see the fox at least

There are 2 ways to take this photo.

      1. Use flash (but Flash Sync mode), though you said the fox will be scared away.

      2. Use what Stephen suggested and further to that you can read my "VR tweak article" (that might help, or adjusted to help with different settings) posted here (it is written for a different camera, but basically works in most cameras):

That's good. The reason I asked, was before I saw your post, I thought I would have a go in shadows and highlight, but when you said you had done it, I thought I would save myself some time.

              thanks all for help
no i didnt have it on time exposure nor did i have it on night time mode.& yes using 400iso made it realy very noisy. i myself did do some adjustments & was able to see fox but was alot noisier than yours stephen.

do you think it could possibly be that i had it on continuous shoot ? maybe if i tried just using single shot do you think that may help?? im going to try & move his food bowl & turn on my kitchen light that may give alittle extra light ,as i cant turn on my outside porch light as thats where i stand in the shadows so he doesnt get scared away.

will have alook at your vr tweak link archangel, thanks
