  • Sd card Formatting

Evening all, I ask your help for a collegue of mine, he has formatted his card in his camera and it no longer recognizes it, I have the card here and have had it in my card reader, i used a demo of "Photorescue" and managed to see the photos on the card so I know that it is functioning to some degree. I know there was an issue with some cards and formatting in a pc. Can anybody shed a light on a solution as he really dosent want to piurchase another 1GB card
    regards

If he has formatted in camera already and the camera doesn't recognise it then I feel the only solution may be................................................ .............................. to sign up here, enter the Salon competition and win the 2GB card up for grabs

This may sound a bit far fetched but same happened to a friend of mine. I suspected his camera had developed a fault so to test it I put my card in his camera and it recognised it ok. Now sure that it was his card I put the card in my camera and that worked ok. Really stumped by now so swapped the cards back to there correct cameras and strangely they both worked ok. Still don't know why this should be but all's well that ends well. I'd love to know what caused this to happen. Maybe just a case of his camera had locked up and needed a card swap to get it going.

There is formatting and then there is... formatting. Some cameras just rewrite the table of contents and others will reset all the sectors on the card. If Photoresuce can see the card OK on your PC, I would suggest reformatting the card using your PC, but ensuring that the format type is FAT (or FAT-16) but not FAT-32 or NTFS. Don't choose Quick Format, you want a thorough sector by sector format.

If that doesn't enable his camera to see it, then there may be an electrical problem with his camera.
