If it's of any comfort, we didn't ask for the changes to be made and don't see any benefit in them, but there you are
If you need any extra gallery space, just ask of course!

I found the tools eventually and have now managed to sort out the alterations I needed to make in my gallery.
I'm NOW having a problem trying to find a way to delete an attached image. I've just sent Stephen a PM asking him if he can do it for me - but is there ANY way a member can delete their own attachements? I know it's possible to do so with vB but am wondering if you've disabled that function - thus denying member the ability to delete their own attachments?
I wouldn't normally do this but I have no choice. I've been *ordered* to get the image offline so it's not open to discussion.
Sorted Pol. Wouldn't do this for just anyone you understand
Phew - you probably just saved my life!! He's a fierce one that'un!
I'd just been looking in the thread and wondered why the pic had suddenly disappeared before I'd managed to get all the extra details to ya.
FWIW - I really don't think it's a good policy to prevent members from being able to delete their own attachments. I feel strongly that people should always have the means of being in control of their own images and posts. I'd always thought they did actually. Apparently I was wrong. Mine are mainly just screenshots, apart from that particular one.
I've also been compelled to remove a few from the gallery - not many, only maybe 3-4, but again I had no choice. Sorry.
Well, I don't really want people to post pictures and then delete them willy-nilly. Thankfully, this isn't too much of a problem here, but it can be potentially disruptive.
You can delete your own gallery pictures, however. But the general advice is to please consider a deletion carefully, especially if the image is used in a forum post. If anyone runs out of gallery space, I'm usually very happy to provide extra space.
We'd rather the gallery was used instead of attachments anyway. If you need to delete an attachment, a moderator will be able to do this for you.

Yes, I'm very well aware of your feelings on this issue ... though I still maintain it's not ideal to deny members the ability and the right to delete their own attachments. I feel attachments are unlikely to disrupt the flow of a thread anyway. I WON'T be uploading or posting any further attachments to DPN. I have personal webspace of my own if I want to show an image temporarily at any point in the future.
I haven't deleted anything "willy-nilly" either now or at any other time. I have deleted about 4 gallery images today iirc and yes, they had been used in forum posts. However, those threads were very, very old and I really had no other choice. Sorry.
