Gallery uploads - I will check each and every on out
Gallery uploads - I will check each and every on out
Seeing as some of you have made the effort to upload photos to the gallery (and some of you will earn yourself a Picture of the Day in the process) I'm committing to looking at every photo added to the galleries this month. If I think there is a useful comment to be made - I'll make one, too. If I think a picture is worthy of a good rating, I'll rate the picture too.
Re: Gallery uploads - I will check each and every on out
I'm having an off day Perhaps it's a sugar rush from the Easter Eggs I seem to have deleted my previous post...
I thought I'd searched the gallery to look at the last 7 days pictures and up came mostly "Cats n Dogs" then I swapped to look at 90 images in thumbnails and it all changed, so my comment seemed inapropriate, I went to edit it but hit the wrong button
SO:
Cut down on the Chocolate and concentrate on what I'm doing
Re: Gallery uploads - I will check each and every on out
I think I have left comments and rated a couple of hundred images so far. The one thing I wish I had was more information in the caption area. Or do you think the image should do ALL the talking?

I also wish posters would put a bit more information in the caption area.
It's frustrating when the picture has no info whatsoever. I find it especially frustrating when a picture only has the file number generated by the camera.
Re: Gallery uploads - I will check each and every on out
I have tended to use the picture as an illustration to a posting rather than as an image to be seen in its own right. It never occurs to me to browse the gallery but I'm sure I am missing out here.
I'll try to remember to add a bit of caption information and a meaningful title in future.

I often do much the same, and posting a photo on the forum seems to negate the need for info on the gallery. I often don't even put my photos into other categories. However I can see the issue and I'll see what I can do in future.

yep. one thing i hate about comps on another site i used to use was some peoples need to write loads about what was going on in the image. i firmly believe that the picture should do all the talking, the only text required being an appropriate title. if you need to explain the image and its relevancy, then it's the wrong image.
personally, i prefer to work out how an image was created / what was intended rather than be told all about it. but then, that's me.
Re: Gallery uploads - I will check each and every on out
I personally feel that a gallery upload should have some additional information to give some insight to the viewer. When it's a competition, there is usually a theme, so some insight is already provided, but for a general gallery image some information would be handy I feel.
