Another focus query.

Hi,

Just got back from Lake District. Very good weather and light. I have tried to restrict myself to Manual mode to get better. A number of the shots are blurred. I think I know why...the camera was set to Manual focus...but due to high light levels, I couldn't really see the viewfinder image well enough!!...would I have been better to have chosen DMF ( manual fine adjustment after automatic focusing)?...or even automatic?.....if so, is this really full Manual...or does this not matter? thanks.

If your don't have the optional electronic viewfinder (I think your NEX can use the optional finder) then it may well be difficult to focus manually using the rear screen only. Autofocus is a useful tool and I use it 95% of the time, but it is a good challenge to use manual focus. Using AF with fine manual adjust is really best used for lenses that may not focus reliably.
