  • Real or fake?

Well, it's real, but for the life of me I'm not sure why this shot looks like model. It was taken at 1/2000, F7.1, ISO 400, 235mm. Slight sharpening and noise reduction and minor level adjustment was the sum total of processing. I was using a Canon EOS 400D with EF70-300mm 4.5-5.6 DO IS lens.

Crop followed by full image (well the second is a slight crop as well)

I would say too much noise reduction, I never use it myself it gives that plastic look.

You could be right. I've been playing with Neat Image, so may try and calm it down. Mind you, the shot looked 'plastic' even before processing.

Sorry just realised you are using a Canon, so you can use RAW.

            Hi Patrick,

It was shot in RAW, but even then the head of the pigeon caught my attention for the 'plastic' look. The eye looked especially 'artificial'. I've been playing around with Neat Image and can see the difference it makes. I may re-process it with no adjustments to see what difference it makes, when I'm back on my own machine. It seems to kind of 'freeze' everything.
