This "Tableaux" was created by a couple of the models on the Net Model - Southend Group Shoot, that I attended a few weeks ago.
Having never attempted this style before, I could only see this working in Grainy B&W, very soft focus and Lo-Key.
The models are Sallybabe and Atomic01 on the Net Model site and it has to be said were really great sports to get dressed up this way and to pose in this style.
I would have applied more of a selective Guassian Blur to the background maybe! Maybe having the models slightly closer would suggest more of a kiss & not a 'gaze'!

Jocelyn,
If I were to redo this, I too may well add some more blur into the background. I do try as best I can to get it right in the camera and on this occasion I didn't use the lens to it's full effect to get a shallow DOF.
As for the pose, we often hear of photographers "Pushing" models beyond their limits and while these two are great at portraying these type of situations, I leave them to present the scene and concentrate on my composition.
Also they did very well considering they both were up a tree with twigs sticking in them in some very uncomfortable places
