  • testing out my new fuji xpro 1

Well I guess I am back. First off let me thank you all again for your kind words last year it did and does mean a lot. Truth is the wife said I was like a bear with a sore head and words like that not having a camera. So I have gone with the Fuji xpro 1 system and hope to shoot things that will be different from what I have in the past. Having said that I have only had the camera for a few weeks and this really was my first test with it so I thought it was best to shoot something I know, well sort of anyway.

It's great to see you back behind the viewfinder, Peter

What lens/lenses have you chosen for your X-body?

Thanks Ian. Its good to be back. I feel like its my legal high
I went with the deal online which gives me the xpro1 with the 18mm f2 lens and the chance to claim a free one out of the 24,35 and 60mm. With living in the channel Isalnds we also do not pay vat as you know so it really was a steal I have gone for the 35mm as it would be around a 50mm full frame ok 53 but who is counting Also with it being an f1.4 it should be super fast I was not sure I would like the 18mm but it is growing on me. Looking ahead I am not sure if I will go for what seems to be their kit lens the 18-55 or stick with the primes and get a 60mm. The 60mm is a 2.4 so again a nice fast lens so that may help me make up my mind. Really thinking of the 55-200 as a zoom may well come in handy.

        Hi Peter,
Glad to see you are back with the craft Very nice come back, too.
As for what next lens, I'd say wait for it ..... the 56mm f/1.2 that is ... wait for it.

          Thanks Bob

I have seen some photos taken with the 56mm and they do look really nice. Not sure if you know or not but there is a guy on flicker who had a sample one he had tested which looked really good. He also had a small video on his site about it. I know the guy would lent me the 18-55mm and works in a local camera shop cannot wait for it to come in so he can try it out for himself. It is a high end lens price wise but I guess for what you are getting its fair

Re: testing out my new fuji xpro 1

I am a sucker for fast short teles. When I got my Nikon 1 V2 I grabbed the 32/1.2 the second it came out and it has doubled my fun. As Fuji fills out their lens line up my interest increases. I like the sensor inovation coming from one of the last film mfrs. They know IQ and color and are pushing the envelope while listening to users. I'll be listening to your comments.

I agree with you on the flast glass I loved my canon 50mm 1.4. One thing I have found with the Fuji is it slows you down which is not a bad thing in fact its a good thing in my book. Also I am now shooting jpegs with raws which is something I never did before. I really want to see over time what this camera can come up with in the jpeg film styles.

Glad to see you back Peter with your new camera. Some folk from our Photographic Society did quite well in the Guernsey Salon. Eileen Murray and I think Dennis Farrell. There may have been some more.

I am just going to mention your new pics. I like the third one on the couch. Is it your lounge, very nice? Window a bit burnt out.

The first two don't look very relaxed. The first one reminds me of the WI calendar.

I really don't think the last one does her any favours, all tangled up with her leg stuck out at a queer angle. Technically good, but I don't like the composition.

Anyway, just my opinion, you understand.

                  Hi

No problem and to be very truthful I know they are not my best. I was in a local manor house with 3 other togs. I just went along so I could try out the new camera. None of these were set up for me so to speak I was more or less shooting around the other guys. They all had high end flash gear ie Quadra Ranger kits and I was using natural light
