  • DxO FilmPack

I've been playing with DxO's new FilmPack add-on (free at the moment!) for DxO4 http://www.dxo.com/intl/photo/dxo_op...w/dxo_filmpack

For the first shot I used the Kodak Tri-X setting and for the second Ilford XP2. Both originally RAW colour shots taken with a Canon 350D.

    What do you think?

Long time (late 70's) since I did any darkroom work but the Tri-X in particular I thought was pretty close to how I remember it. Nice sooty blacks - which may, of course, have been down to dodgy processing on my part

I turned the grain option off as I thought the results looked a little OTT but I may go back and tweak the settings from the default ones to get just a little and see if that improves the result - I guess it will depend on the subject to a degree.

Hi Stuart, looks more like Kodak Technical Pan without the grain

But I do like both results - good solid blacks and rich mid-tones. My recollection of TRI-X was that it was a bit more contrasty than HP4/HP5. The negs looked cleaner, but I think I preferred the printed results from the Ilford alternative
