I've used Google's free Snapseed app for several years and really like it. One of the tools I sometimes go to is called HDR-scape, It applies a dramatic HDR effect to the image and frequently makes it too extreme. I'll occasionally use it with cloud shots to get a dramatic effect.

Penny and I were walking a now-closed golf course in Vermont when I took this iPhone 11 Pro Max shot of what remains of the 9th green. I posted it on a Vermont Photography Facebook Page and got quite a bit of positive reaction. One lady suggested that it would be the perfect cover for a mystery novel.

Anyhow, I recognize that this effect can be overdone (it's easy to dial back the intensity), but it does grab your attention. Here's the before and after. Your thoughts?

I like it, because it's NOT overdone - you're right, the HDR-Scape can be somewhat overpowering but it's excellent if dialled back. I've used Snapseed when shooting gigs: because there's no way most phone cameras (including mine - Ian's Huawei might give it a good try) can capture a lowlight gig. Connect camera to phone via bluetooth, download shot and take it into Snapseed. Edited, text logo (or transfer to a program like Logolicious) and you're good to upload to social media while you're still at the gig. Lately however I've been using Photoshop Express, although it's not as easy to use as Snapseed.

I haven't tried Logolicious or Photoshop Express. The latter is $4.99 a month. I'll try the Free Trial. Thanks for the recommnedation.

We're at the Trapp Family Lodge and I grabbed a couple of shots. The first one has been enhanced with HDR-scape.

Wow ! Really like the first of these, Pat.

I appreciate that it may be slightly strong. But I like it.
