New Epson Drivers

Ever since I changed to Mac, my Epson 2100 has been next to useless when trying to get decent colours. I have even considered getting rid of it, but the ability to print CDs has stopped me. Basically the problem was that Epson stopped supporting the model and would not release any new drivers for the Mac OS.

Well now the American site has released a new Printer Driver for the 2200, which is their version of the 2100. I've just downloaded and installed it, and the good news is it works. My prints are once again of an acceptable standard when printing from Photoshop and letting Photoshop manage the colours. However it has to be said that the UK Epson site still has not got a new driver for the 2100. So what's going on?

I was quite excited when I saw this as I have been suffering the same problems with the Epson 1290. I rushed over to the US site, but can't find a 1290!

I wouldn't be surprised if the 1280 would be OK and there was a driver released in Jan '08 for Intel based Macs HERE

As I understand it the 1290 in the US was for reasons best known to Epson the 1280 so yes the drivers should work.

Unfortunately the 1280 does not have a new driver, the last posting was a year or so ago. The new 2200 is a new driver.

Ok, I thought the Common Updater was supposed to improve the performance of the driver.

This is another very old thread - but I recently installed a 1290 with a Windows 7 64-bit PC and Windows Update found a driver even though Epson's website was unable to.
