All I will say is that if the prints look better with Epson inks, why economise and maybe even risk print fading and, worst case scenario, ultimately damaging the print head in your Epson 1290?

I have been using Selectafont at http://www.compatible-inkjet-cartridges.co.uk/ for a number of years now for my Epson printers currently r220. I actually bought the refill kit which worked fine although some times messy until the chip resetter stopped working so I am back on cartridges now which have never failed me and give good results.
Before finding selectafont I used http://www.cartex.co.uk but the prices all seem similar to 7 day shop.
