  • Is this the R1800's replacement?

There's a new A3+ printer on the Epson Japan website:

    http://www.epson.jp/products/colorio...5300/index.htm

It looks like a replacement to the R1800 (the older R800 remains unchanged), complete with a new and improved inkset.

The gloss optimiser remains and the blue has been replaced by an orange .

Can't see any mention of supporting roll paper... guess Epson's policy on that one continues unabated...

interesting. If they can sort out the perpetutal dark prints then they will have my business. The R1800 gives detailed prints but no matter what i try I get dark prints approx 1 stop ish.

How are you getting over this Josh? Do you then readjust in software to compensate. If so what tweeks do you perform.

Honestly I am not sure I have got round this problem. I have calibrated my monitor and in fact the brightness is set at 0 but it is still too bright.

The prints just come out darker than I have on screen. Part of this is my monoitor but part of it is the printer as many many people have posted about epsom printors.

        So sorry no solution

        Best Regards

Got to admit, I've never had reason to fault my R1800. Maybe I don't look for what others see, but I've yet to see another printer that could tempt me away from it.

I doubt that changing a blue ink for an orange one is likely to tempt me either...

Josh I read with interest your problem with darker prints from the Epsom printer. Although I have a different model to you, I also had the same problem. I found that setting the gamma to 2.2 (default is 1.8 ) in the advanced printer setting did the trick for me. Of course you may have already tried this but I thought it was worth a mention anyway.

thanks. But have had my printer and paper combinations calibrated and the improvement is fantastic.
