Re: spyder 2 looking to buy
Hi Peter, I was lucky, as a benevolent web masterOriginally posted by peter View PostOk can some one give me a quick rundown on how this works. Also how it sets up the printer. I have been thinking about getting one of these for a while now but have just not been sure.
gave me my Spyder2Pro. Esssentially though they calibrate your monitor through a wizard and some small input from you. A screen/monitor profile is created and every time you switch on your machine this profile is accessed and your screen corrected. You can literally see it happen during boot up. This allows you to adjust your images as correctly as possible. I find the biggest advantage is having Brightness and contrast correct, as there are many people who have it set wrong and over adjust their images to compensate.
As for the printer, it doesn't actually adjust the settings on this. However when printing with Photoshop or other program that can use a profile, if you set it so that Photoshop determines Colour in the print set up and not Let Printer determine Colour. Then choose the printer profile for your machine or paper you use, the colours are going to appear as near as possible how you see them on the screen.

Re: spyder 2 looking to buy
Thanks for that Stephen
I guess its time to have a look around the web and try to find one
. I did look for one over here a few weeks back
. You should have seen the looks I got when I said what I was after. I do not think even Jessops have it in stock over here as its only a small shop.

Peter, I might be able to help - drop me an email if you haven't already bought one.
