  • an exciting nesw

    for me at least.

Susan Boyle sings the song in Japan on the New Years Eve.
We have a long lived TV program held on the Eve every year and she is the special guest. Not decided yet where she sings it, in Tokyo or in UK.
Her CD that was released in Nov. also ranked No. 1 in Japan too.

    p.s. I believe most people recognize who she is but for those who do not;

Talk about (almost) anything, within reason and it can - even should - be about something not directly related to photography.

A "Susan Boyle" has been already in Japan. "He" sings her song (Cry Me a River?) on a commuting train in Tokyo and filmed responses of people around him. He said that if it had been done in UK, the responses must have been very diffierent from Tokyo. A comment says, "Just do it in Osaka". Osaka is another city in Japan where almost all people there are virtually comedians.

Just start at 2:00 min or so.

He is seemingly from UK ? An interesting guy.

p.s. I learned that the real Susan Boyle visits Tokyo to sing her song there. The responses to the real one would be much much different from the one the guy had.

Yoshi, i think there may be a mistake in your title, as your title says 'exciting news' and yet your post talks about 'Susan Boyle!'

      (sorry, my sarcastic humour!)

Long time no see. Glad to see you again, Ben.

From your message, I learned that it is an old tid bit (now boring?) for UK people but still exciting news on our part - getting even more exciting now.

When her visit to Japan was announced a few days ago, all the news papars I read reported it with enthusiastic welcome. On TV, as well.
I just recalled the day when Beatles visited here -- well how many years ago? I wouldn't tell you.

I happened to learn from a mistress of a Chinese restarurant last night, from whom I first heard about Susan Boyle half a year ago, that Susan arrived Tokyo yesterday.
The mistress remembered well that I was also excited half a year ago or so.

At the interview on her arrival, Susan said she was looking forward to take Sushi (food) and in answering to the question "which song are you going to sing on the New Years Eve?", Susan simply said it was a high secret.
We will learn it tomorow anyway.

The implied message of the TV program "Britain Got Talent (? - not sure)" and of Susan herself was well and warmly accepted here.
If I may put it in my words, it would be "Continue pursuing your dreams. Never give up. - regardless of what some of your surrounding people say ..."

I just recalled a saying "Continuity is the Mighty" (a direct translation - not sure if this conveys well what I wanted to say in English)

Well I can assure you that her visit and singing a song in Japan will be surely and warmly accepted by audiences here.
With such accompanying message, her influence through her talent and charming character acquired through her life could be more powerful than even a visit of, say, one of your royal families, excluding of course the Queen.

The British ambassador to Japan should gladly invite her to a dinner or so for sushi on the new years day, imho, instead of saying "hello" to our royal family on one of the new years days.
although I'm sure that NHK (who invited Susan and a broadcasting org. similar to BBC) will.

Without giving any additional burden on UK's tax payers, she serves as a goodwill ambassador and Japanese will have further favorable images toward UK, I'm sure.

Most Japanese easily recognize her now. I can tell you I repeated the you tube at least hundred times by now.

I wonder which camera she had brought with her. - with video feature or not...
