  • So Kimi is gone well going anyway

We all knew it was coming just a case of when. I have said it before I am not a great fan of kimi so will not miss him much. Is Alonso the right man for the job I am not so sure but hope to be proved wrong.

I just hope that he'll be able to cope with Massa...

I agree with that also he is damaged goods ie spy gate, crash gate and lewis gate. Then again he may well bring is it 4/10ths to the team lol. Must remember not to buy any new Ferrari shirts for the rest of the year as it will all change next season.

Re: So Kimi is gone well going anyway

As everyone is saying, it's just about the worst kept secret in F1.

In certain ways, I think it's good. For some time Kimi hasn't been performing his best when next to Massa. He only starts looking good when Massa is out of the picture.

As is clear from his time at McLaren, Alonso wants to be "number 1 driver" in his team. He gets that at Renault, he didn't get that at McLaren (he was daft to think that he would given Lewis' 12-year association with the team clearly puts him as "number 1 driver"). I don't think he's likely to get it at Ferrari, so it'll be a driver's talent battle between him and Massa.

We already know that Alonso is good when the odds are against him. Despite playing second-fiddle to Lewis, he was still right up there in his year at McLaren (the team would have won the WDC that year if they hadn't favoured Lewis in his rookie year).

So Alonso could help make Ferrari come alive once more - something that Massa was doing for them last year.

The buzz is that Kimi will go to McLaren. I'm not sure that any driver would want to play second-fiddle to Lewis (which is why I hope that none of these "Button to McLaren" fans ever get their way), but Kimi is a driver who seems to keep himself to himself. Being on the back foot at McLaren instead of being number one at Ferrari might just give Kimi the kick he needs to ramp up his performance and challenge his teammate properly.
