What's your view on the budget cap that Ferrari's complaining about?
On the one hand, part of me says that F1 should be the best cars regardless of money but, on the other, I think that a budget cap across all teams will encourage lateral thinking and new ideas because teams won't be able to just "throw money" at the cars anymore.
Compared to most, I came into F1 pretty late - initially because my dad watched it. For many years, F1 felt pretty boring. The cars with the most money (McLaren driven by Hakkinen or Hamilton, Ferrari driven by Schumacher) were always at the front with everyone else scrabbling around miles behind them. That's what it felt like.
So I feel that if there's this "ceiling" with the budget, we'll start to see more ingenuity and "out of the box" thinking. The limited budget will allow any team to be more ingenious than any other because money will not be the deciding factor, so we'll never revert to the "boring" state again.
What are other people's thoughts?
