              I'll vote for that!

I can't see it ever happening in this country, though. There's too much money in it and while the big companies want their slice of the pie and squeeze every last drop of money out of the consumer that they can, it won't happen.

After all, give everyone free WiFi and no one will pay for broadband. BT, NTL, and all the others will feel this where it hurts - in the wallet. The very people who could give us the free WiFi are the very people who make money out of selling us internet access.

For the past number of decades, television SciFi shows have suggested that, in the future, there'd be some Utopian ideal in which we're all networked with information at our fingertips, with everyone being equal. But none of those programmes ever factored for the greedy money-grubbing big companies that keep a stranglehold on innovation.

This campaign is, in many ways, pointless. I mean, what's it going to prove? That we all want free WiFi? Does anyone "at the top" believe that any of us "at the bottom" want to PAY? Clearly they already know we want it, they just don't want to provide it. The only thing at "the bottom" that those "at the top" worry about is "the line" - as in "the bottom line".

              Cynical? Who - me?
