Are the FIA trying to kill off f1. How do they really think this will work. There is no way I could see say BMW sticking their name on a Ferrari engine??

It's a tricky one. The costs must be curbed or half the grid will disappear. Even the future of Williams is threatened as they are now mid-field team at best.

PS I calculate that if Hamilton wins this weekend, Massa needs to be no lower than 5th place or the championship is decided?

If my arithmetic is right, 5th nets 4 points and that would make Massa 11 points behind with only a max of 10 points left to earn?

In fact, who has won more races? Maybe Massa needs 4th or higher?

OK we know it's all about money but show me any top sport nowadays that is not about the money. The teams must be held to a set amount of money not sure how you would set and prove it but it should be done. As we also know there is one man who takes to much money from the sport. I read the other day he wants ten million from the events to put on a gp thats a lot of money in one year. The French gp looks like it is off next year because of the money they have to spend.

Yes this weekend could well see the wdc being crowned. Let's hope for another weekend like last week only massa being able to pick up a few more points. I see lewis is doing rather well so far this weekend

I think something needs to be done about the money. The teams that spend the most money are the ones that win the WDC - well there's a surprise.

But the ones who spend the most get the most advertising and sponsors because they win, therefore they have more to spend. The back runners will never catch up and can't even dream of winning.

        Re: the WDC.

I'm still rooting for Button. But I think he may have left it just a tiny bit late to stage a comeback this year. Never say never, though!

My fave driver is Button, but I'm a bit worried as he has been out-raced by the ol' man Rubens in recent races.

I think it would be best if Honda continued with the same drivers next year. I don't think Alonso will go to Honda now - unless Renault decides to quit, but I can't really see that happening.

I hope Honda's lack of pace this year has a lot to do with them concentrating on next year's car. I do think that both drivers should stay for the long haul, but if they haven't got a good car coming then I don't know what the next step is.

Rubens out-racing Jenson, but not long ago it was Jenson out-racing Rubens. Put two experienced drivers in rubbish cars and it's like challenging each other for last place. They are both solid drivers and Rubens has clearly relished the chance to be out from Schumacher's shadow (where he stayed for too long). I don't think Jenson has lost anything, and it's only understandable if he's fed up with driving a turkey.

Give them both good cars and they'll both do good things in them, I'm sure of that.

I think Alonso needs to stay where he is. He's proven, in the last few races, that he has what it takes to be a winner even when he's given a less-than-ideal car. If Renault put as much effort into the car as Alonso puts into the driving, he'll be challenging for the WDC next year and no mistake. Regardless of how good Honda's 2009 car is, I think they'll probably make it as far as "best of the rest" (where they were for a little while) but I don't think they'll be ready to go for the WDC next year. Alonso needs to stay put if he wants to go for the title.

2009 is going to be fascinating and there could be some surprises as the cars will be almost completely different from this year - apart from engines and gearboxes. The new limited aero, new slick tyres, energy recycling devices - the cards are really up in the air

Jenson has had some good dices this season, but it must be very difficult to turn up every time and know for sure that there is no prospect of any glory - unless it rains!

And being beaten by Rubens just rubs salt in the wounds.
