  • F1: Top Gear Lewis

Did anyone else see Lewis Hamilton on Top Gear tonight? Can't that lad go anywhere without his father in tow?

Rather ironical that Lewis' segment just happened to be scheduled right after the piece in which Richard Hammond drove the Renault that Alonso won the WDC in. Hmm...

Hamilton did, as expected, spectacularly well. He would, though. No gravel traps or worn out tyres to contend with. No crane either, so that balances things up...

I guess he is getting the hang of coming second now . I loved the bit with Hammond in the Renault I could have watched a whole show on that alone.

Never mind he did pick up some awards this weekend.

Oh and I bet he will win the BBC sports personality of the year next weekend .

As it's a BBC programme, it might be available at any time for the next 7 days from Virgin's "catch-up" TV service - if you have cable.

              (I'll have to check.)

i did see lewis' lap on bbc website. only 2/10ths slower than the stig. looked deceptively slow because it was so smooth. be good to see just what time he can post on a dry track instead of a moist one....

RE: Hammond and the F1 Renault: I have driven that mini circuit at Silverstone a couple of times (Lotus Elises and Formula Fords) and it's really short - a glorified kart circuit if you ask me. I'm amazed Hammond got the Renault up to 4th gear on the main straight to be honest.

I got 'driver of the day' too - it was a corporate hospitality event for European IT journalists about 7 years ago!

Hammond's renault F1 segment was quite funny but does show how scary and how much skill is required to drive an F1 car. And the steps down from an F1 car!

RE Hamilton's segment being second, I tihnk its to keep the viewers more than anything else, biggest attraction, of course they're going to save it for last!
I think its great that Hamilton's dad goes to all of Lewis' publicity events, shows tremendous support. I would've liked to see him do the lap though, see if he is faster than his son!

I don't see why Lewis needs such "tremendous support" when all he's doing is going to Top Gear to have a laugh with other enthusiastic lads. I see it that his father wants to be sure that Lewis doesn't say or do anything that he shouldn't. Does he follow him around everywhere?

The poor kid's got to be let loose from the apron strings one day. Let him be his own man, he's ably proven that he's more than capable of standing on his own two feet.

Ok so you guys know I am not a big fan. Maybe one day if he drives a red car who knows. So do not take this the wrong but I think his father is just looking after his investment. I mean in time and not just money.

Next Sunday on BBC2 They have 3 hours of top gear well sort of.

7pm is James May , My sisters Top Toys. Should be funny

8pm is Top Gear, The last of this years shows.

9pm Richard Hammond meets Evel Knievel

Oh and at 11.30 Evel Knievel plays himself in the film Viva Knievel.

So it looks like we may have some top TV after all.

Oh and is any one watching race of champions tonight. I think it is live on sky sports. I will mis it because I do not have the sport channels but would still like to know if you guys liked it.
