Well I did not think we would see someone like Schumacher again for a long time but I guess that I will be proved wrong on that. Ok so now for everyone to say yes but unlike Schumacher we will only see the best from the guy. Now on this I am not so sure on this as I think even after this season when most things have gone his way we have still seen that he will do some strange things to win so what will he be like if things do not go his way. Oh and I see he is off to live next door to the man himself

    Re: new Schumacher

I heard about this on Five Live this morning on the way to work..... I am not so sure I have ever heard such nonsense. I dont ever remember anyone coming into the sport and having such huge success.

I am happy to stand corrected, but I dont remember anyone ever doing six laps of a circuit that he has never been on before and then be a half second faster than a two times world champ either.

In my opinion, Hamilton has made a huge impact, and hopefully will continue to impress next season.

Also remember that Hamilton has catagorically said that he would not want to win the championship if it meant taking it off Raikanon on a technicality. I dont think Schumacher would ever do be so sportsmanlike (in my opinion of course)

But that is something we will now never know I also do not think he would have liked to win any championship like that. Now where did I put those rose tinted specs

Certainly we will never know for definate.....but be honest Peter....he did do some pretty unsportsmanlike things during his rein. Thats not to take anything away from his ability.......and of course we certainly dont know what Hamilton will be like in the future.....but I like to think that his sportsmanlike behaviour, and likable personality will continue. (even if he doesnt want to pay UK tax anymore but who can blame him for that!)

Ok I will be honest YES he did do things wrong just show me someone who has not. I think if the truth be known he did not know how to come second that was not in his make up and this is when he would push things to the limit and then beyond. But will you also be honest he would always be in the wrong after his first run in with Hill in Australia. The English press would never let him forget that one and from then on it was always going to be hard.

I don't believe that any driver would want to take the title on a technicality such as this one, and I reckon that anyone who has anything close to an understanding of the kind of bloke Schumacher is would know that he'd be no different in this respect.

Trouble is, so many (British) people focused on what Schuey did wrong (mainly because he was German, hugely talented and occasionally dour...) that they failed (and have continued to fail) to notice the behaviour and transgressions of other drivers, such as Fernando Alonso (his catalogue of unsporting gestures both on and off track in 2007 alone was extensive) and past drivers, such as Senna. And don't get me started on Mark Webber, whose pompous, self-righteous outbursts and misguided attacks on fellow drivers just make me nauseous. And there are plenty more where they came from...

With Schuey it appears to be a blind prejudice which for many clouds their objectivity and therefore their arguments, but I guess this explains why folk continue to speculate negatively as to what he'd do or say under specific circumstances. If people just armed themselves with the facts and were able to distinguish the man from his errors, I think most would acknowledge that apart from being an incredible racing driver, he was actually a very considerate, straightforward and hard-working guy who happened to fall victim to his own red mist on occasions............very much a human being, in other words. If he'd been a Brit, he'd have been very popular...

Hamilton's a great, raw talent. However those of us who watch F1 closely and study the details can already see that he's clearly no angel and will do what he needs to do to win. Also, some of his comments and actions during the season showed degrees of contempt and a lack of respect for many established people in F1, including his own boss, so we'll see how he handles the pressure when push comes to shove in 2008. Personally I'll always be able to see past his transgressions so long as he isn't vindictive or malicious (like his team-mate...), because on track he's entertaining and aggressive (unlike his team-mate...) and intelligent and charismatic off the track (unlike his team-mate...).

I just get the feeling that you have a large poster of Alonso at the end of your bed. I can see you throwing darts at it every time you have a spare moment. Must admit he is not my favorite driver in F1, but when he is behaving himself his not that bad a driver.

I don't think he's a bad driver either, but he's not a great one like Schuey, Senna, Raikonnen or even Hamilton. His actions and public tantrums are therefore not balanced out or compensated for by his talent or charisma, so there's very little to like...

Anyway, the notion that I'd have a poster of him to throw darts at is ludicrous. No, I just have a voodoo doll of him in which I stick pins and other sharp implements
