    Yep, I have signed it.

    I red about this somewhere........ahem...

Absolutely disgusting! I really do despair about the PC brigade sometimes!

I am all for diversity, but, people must understand that it works both ways. In my opinion, other nations would love to see the Red Arrows, and be far from offended.

They've got my support 100% Guess the complainers must be the same folk who think the hymn, "I vow to thee, my country" is offensive too .........

Isn't this a storm in a teacup? There is a response saying that no such ban has been made. Seems to me that someone has blown a rumour up out of all proportions - probably a newspaper.

A perfect example: last weekend the Sunday Mirror apparently ran a gossip story about some 2nd league celebs suddenly and privately getting hitched.

A Radio 1 DJ read this and, in passing, mentioned congrats on her show at the weekend.

The following day she was in the papers being quoted as having spilled the beans on the private event (which happened not to have taken place at all (the marriage) anyway). And to cap it all, the Daily Mirror contacted the BBC for a quote to confirm the story, even implying that the DJ was some personal friend of the couple betraying their privacy - apparently not having read the Sunday edition's item.

So - rumour, no Red Arrows at the 2012 Olympics, ooooh, good story (err, what story) - let's make some news to sell more newspapers to the Great British Public - and make more money Yeah

And the papers pontificate about the honesty in broadcasting at the moment...

          Hi Ian,

From what I understand, the rumour was that they were banned by the government as being too British. The truth is that the organisers are considering not letting them fly for fear of upsetting non British people.

Therefore the petition is to give support to the Red Arrows so the organisers take note.

          Hope that makes sense

It's all still a rumour and the government response says that no such decision has been made - that's fine by me.
