Just read the news that Wurz isn't going to see out the season.

Odd that he'd leave with just one race left to go. Has there been talk about replacing him with "someone else" next season and so Wurz decided to go now?

Another website posted the following:

Alonso's options for 2008 have, to date, been limited to Renault, Ferrari and a sabbatical.

But the first would represent an embarrassing climbdown, the second has been ruled out, and the third dismissed by Alonso himself.

Makes you think if Williams should be added to that list of options...

wurz retiring now - kinda makes sense. it's always the swansong race that does for you. "i'll retire after brazil" tempts fate too much.

Interesting that they say:

However, in their statement the team stressed that Nakajima's Brazilian drive is not 'an evaluation exercise for a race seat in 2008.'

So someone else must be lined up for the seat next year.

I notice that both McLaren and Alonso have said that Alonso's future will be decided "after Brazil". Is that a coded way of saying "it depends if he wins the WDC"..?
