That's a sweeping generalisation - there are lots of McLaren driver pairings that worked very well - Hakkinen/Coulthard, even Raikkonen/Coulthard, Berger/Senna, Prost/Lauda - and that's just on the top of my head.

The only one I can see from your list where the pairings were even close to equal in talent terms, is Prost and Lauda. In all the other cases a distinct no.1 / no.2 game was played, albeit quite discreetly; Hakkinen, Raikonnen and Senna in particular were in a different league to the team-mates you've referred to. In the case of Senna and Berger, it's well known that Berger was quite happy in a supporting role and this, combined with his ability to amuse Senna, was why they got on so well. Had Berger been as quick as Senna, things would almost certainly have been different.

History shows that whenever McLaren have had similarly talented drivers on supposedly equal terms, it's been less than harmonious.

When I think of the stick (some of it very bitter indeed) people have given to Schumacher for his past transgressions and compare it to the distinct silence that follows each and every Alonso-ism (and there have been plenty of them this season alone...), it makes me realise how people simply see what they want to see, not what is actually taking place
i had respect for alonso until this season. he's well and truly been slinging the toys from the pram all too often. now relegated to pretty much the same status i had for schumacher.

How cool would this be . Ok I guess its to much to dream of but as we have seen today anything can happen in f1 .

I know that in a tie situation, LH is screwed on countback, but how cool would it be if the season ended with all three drivers tied.

I don't know if there are more scenarios in which we could get a three way tie, but here is one that readily springs to mind...

Massa wins his home GP for the second successive season and bags the 10 points.

Raikkonen completes a Ferrari one-two, earning 8 points, bringing his final points tally to 108.

Alonso finishes behind Heidfeld in fourth place, earning himself five points to give a total of 108.

Hamilton, after losing a front wing at the first corner of the first lap, battles back through the field to take the last point on offer, to also score 108 points for the season.

          ALONSO 108 FOUR WINS
RAIKKONEN 108 FIVE WINS - WORLD DRIVERS CHAMPION
          HAMILTON 108 FOUR WINS

Not sure if this is true or not but have heard that the fia maybe looking at Alonso Q3 tires as his times were so far out from what they should have been. If this is true it could be even more fun for Big Ron to sort out. Then again it may all be pie in the sky. Also Ron did say they will sort out the drivers for 2008 after the last race.
