Re: Postal Scam (moved from General board)

There's a similar thing to this going around on the phones. We were caught out the first time. We came home to find a message on the answerphone saying something like "We have a message for you from <some name sounding like a delivery service>. Please phone XXXX-XXXXX." As we were awaiting some parcels we were caught out. When we called, you're put in a queue and then get some waffle about trying to sell you timeshares (or whatever the equivalent is).

We complained to BT and everyone else we could find. Fortunately it wasn't an expensive call but it is still a scam.

A couple of times since then we have had a similar call. But each time we've been in. When you answer the phone, all you get is a voice saying "We have a message for you... please phone... etc". In other words it's a recording being sent to every number they have in the hope that they get your answerphone so you get conned into phoning them back when you get home.

These people are the scum of the Earth.
