There are some seriously awful weather events and earthquakes happening in Japan so this is just a note to say I'm thinking of Yoshi and hoping all is well in his area.

Absolutely. I have nothing but the utmost sympathy for the people here in the UK who are putting up with the aftermath of the recent floods, but what's been happening in Japan is in a different league.

Yoshi - tell us you're OK!

Heartfelt thanks for everybody - I was really glad and honestly speaking a bit surprised with pleasure to read the messages.

I happened to be staying in Fukushima prefecture that locates next to the one heavily hit by the earthquake on that day and so personally experienced the earthquake - though just slightly.

I learned on a TV news this morning that UK was continuously suffering from the heavy rain. Hopefully it would not give big troubles to you all in the affected region.

I regret I could not reply earlier - I was away home until early this morning. Thanks again indeed. A nice site!

Welcome back Yoshi - good to hear from you

Our problems in the UK have been less violent, but maybe almost as disruptive. Maybe the homes of up to 2 million people have been affected by the direct and indirect effects of flooding, both in the south west and the north of England. Most of these are people who have lost power supplies, but 20-30,000 homes and business premises have been also been flooded.

But as I write this - the sunshine is flooding through my window!

Yoshi, it's so good to hear from you and know you're safe and well.

No serious flooding problems here in our own corner of the SE of England but we've been having a fair amount of torrential rain on some days.
