  • How did Massa lose that one?!

    Post-French GP:

I still can't understand how Massa managed to let Raikonen through as he was quite far ahead?

Hamilton wasn't going to beat the Ferraris this weekend, but the change to a 3 stop strategy basically robbed him of 20 seconds so the half a minute deficit in the record book is misleading.

And at last Jenson is making progress, 6th fastest lap, 8th place and a point and within spitting distance of Alonso, who started acouple of places ahead.

It's a shame they're leaving Magny Cours as there is always some good racing there and overtaking at the hairpin is usually exciting.

I did wonder if anyone was going to say something. The way I saw it Massa just was not as quick after his pit stop and so got stuck in traffic. Shame as he was going so well and should have won.

Hamilton was off the pace this weekend, maybe not the best way to put it but Kimi made a good start and after that it was going to be a hard job to beat the Ferrari's.

How will they start the show next weekend

Yes JB had a better race this weekend but the Honda is still way off the pace.

Ferrari had a great test at Silverstone the other week so I hope they can keep it up for this weekend and last week was not a flash in the pan.

Yes its a shame they are leaving Magny Cours. As you know I went there two years ago. Yes its in the middle of nowhere but at the end of the day you go to see the GP if you want nightlife you go elsewhere.

Ferrari are certainly looking good for Silverstone, but both Ron Dennis and Lewis Hamilton seemed to signal that they knew why France was a temporary blip - we will see.

Of course Silverstone is a bit like Magny Cours - in the middle of nowhere!

Re: How did Massa lose that one?!

My understanding was that while Massa achieved the fastest lap of the race, Raikonnen was the faster overall. Massa seems to be quite good at getting his car onto the front of the grid (although he's yet to win from there despite several poles this season...), but Raikonnen is the faster race driver and in equal cars I'd put my money on him every time.

He's had a pretty poor start with Ferrari and I was genuinely gettng worried (as were his employers, apparently...), but this weekend showed that he has the talent and speed to beat his team-mate. Oh, and Massa's excuses only told part of the story..........Kimi held easily onto him in the early stages, despite having more fuel and a load of dirty air to contend with...
