  • Adobe Reader 8.0

    Hello All,

Has anyone else downloaded the new Adobe reader? What do you think?

    Re: Adobe Reader 8.0

I have the Mac version and also use Acrobat Pro version 8.
The Mac version of the Reader seems to work fine, but looks very 'PC'-ish.

I also use Safari to view pdf's but this seems to be very slow.
I'd be interested to hear how the Windows version of Safari does?
Pdf is one of the mac's native file formats built into the operating system, so it probably copes differently with them.

      Re: Adobe Reader 8.0

Safari is a bit slower than Adobe Reader to open a document, but not enough to influence one's choice of reader.
What might be more important to some users who's only need is to read PDF's is the file size. Adobe Reader 8.0 weighs in at 151 MB - the free Foxit Reader at 51 MB! If your HD space is limited the choice is obvious, the only negative for Foxit is that it is not as polished as AR.

        Hi Jennifer,

I have it installed on all my PCs and have had no problems with it. I think it handles large documents better than previous versions (it seems to load them faster but it may be my imagination).
