Thanks but I bet the wife will still not buy me one to celebrate the 60th:.
Hire one for a weekend (an F430 Berlinetta with a manual gearbox, I'd suggest).........preferably on your wife's birthday...........and then head out to the Cotswolds or perhaps even the Lakes and kill two birds with one stone...
Or, you could join a club such as P1 and get all the pleasure without the pain...

We do not have anything like that over here but it is my 40th next year so may have to drop a few hints nearer the time. Knowing my luck I will get one but only the sort that come in a small box Maybe even a track day would be nice. Hey I just had an idea i could write to Jim and see if he could fix it for me to be driven around a few laps by Michael

Find a WHITE VAN MAN and get a lift with him, I'm sure that would be even more exciting.

Yeah, a trackday would be superb - my brother did a Ferrari one a couple of years ago and got to drive (and be driven in...) a 360 Challenge Stradale, an F355 and an F550...........it's not particularly cheap, but he reckoned the day was great value and definitely memorable. If it's your 40th (mine's due in Feb 2009), you should definitely push the boat out
My old man had a 360 Spider until last summer and so rather than pay for a trackday or a hirecar, I simply worked on him (for over six months...) until he finally let me drive it. It was the defining moment of my motoring career I must say........I just kept slowing down and then accelerating so that I could listen to the engine . On a funnier note, he once parked up outside his house and left the roof down on a sunny afternoon, but while he was inside using the phone there was a 5-minute hailstorm.........he reckoned there was a half-inch thick carpet of ice in his car when he went outside and I believe it cost him a few quid to get it cleaned up and dried out
Only been in one Ferrari which was a 355. I did not get to drive it but it was a fun ride. The guy who owns it also has a Jaguar XK I think, it was a few years back and was sure thats what he said. Funny thing is they are both company cars and maybe a bit of a tax dodge. He drives around in a beat up land rover.
