  • Earthquake Kent/Sussex

No tremors here in West Kent as far as I know.

Hopefully Bigbob, Tinka and Will (or anyone else from the region) wasn't affected either.

I must admit I wouldn't be keeen to use the Chunnel atm ...... and I'm glad we weren't on the clifftop campsite in Folkestone!!

    Hi Pol,

I'd heard it was pretty much localised to an area south of Canterbury. Kent used to have a coal mining industry - maybe it was related to that?

I think it was the epicentre south of Canterbury, out in the Dover straits

Not related to the previous mining industry afaik. Apparently there are 'faults' across the area. I gather there were reports of tremors further afield too, though most of the damage seems to have been in the Dover/Folkestone area. BBC Q/A page here

Nothing at all here. We were amazed to hear about it actually. I'd no idea that sort of thing might happen in Kent and Sussex!
