Re: It's been a while since we had some F1 gossip here

Bravo JSR - for once we really agree

I wonder if Button's leap of faith inspired Lewis too? I was one of those that really questioned Button's move from Brawn, but what a payback Jenson has had - 8 wins in three years and really giving Lewis something to think about.

It does seem that Whitmarsh is a real Jenson fan. He brought Jenson into the team and he frequently describes Jenson as a great 'human being'. There is no doubt that while Jenson has improved his qualifying performances, Lewis is the pole position master of the two and Lewis is also more spectacular in races - albeit more likely to crash. Recent disrespectful actions by Lewis, including the Twitter incident earlier this year, may have been the last straw for both sides.

I think it's healthy to change teams - few recent champions stayed with one team all their careers. It certainly makes next year's season look fascinating already!

      Now Now Ian

We all know that's not how you spell Schumacher I am not a fan of Lewis not sure if you knew that or not lol but I think he is playing the long game here. Ok so next year will not be great for him going by the way the car has been this year Sounds like 2014 could be a game changer and that is what he must be banking on.

Oh and I would love to see Schumacher back in the Ferrari for just one more year but that is just a dream I think I guess time will tell as always if he was right or not and it will be something to look forward to.

I wonder who will replace Jake Humphreys as the main BBC F1 presenter next year. Jake is a consummate pro; very hard to find a replacement who will match his talent!

Well seeing as I only watch it on Sky I am not to worried about that but having seen how sky have got it wrong with their main man I can see it will not be easy for them. I must say and it does pain me a little to say this but I am warming to Damon on Sky Oh and I see the BBC only have the new race in Texas as highlights not good as that could be the race that sorts out this season and with it being new its seems they have dropped the ball with that one.

So Schumacher has confirmed he will retire for the second time at the end of this season and so fail to emulate the success of Alain Prost who came back and won another championship. Could he have done it with the right car - maybe, but the telling thing is that Nico Rosberg has compared far better than any of Michael's former team mates.

I'm no expert on F1 or Schumacher, but I believe we now have a much more level playing field which has proved to me he is not as good as his reputation would have you believe. With out the might of Farrari behind him, and the submissive team mate he has had to compete relying purley on his own talents. It's also been stated that Farrari where able to acquire better tyres than other teams, such was their power over other competitors. All these things add up to giving both Schumacher and Farrari an unfair advantage. Some of his dirty driving tactics were also given the blind eye. Now don't get me wrong. I would have loved him to come back and show the younger drivers how it's done. But I strongly believe now, in light of the things I have mentioned above, that he was good but not as good as it looked at the time.
Regards Ron. Live each day as if it was your last. One day you will be right. Down sized to Nikon s7000 compact camera.

Am I the only one who was amused by today's Qualifying in which Lewis Hamilton was out-qualified by his replacement?
