  • New Years Resolutions....Post 'em Here!

OK, I had my last fag (better scratch that and write cigarette for our friends over the pond! haha!) at 1am new years day!

Hopefully will stay off them from here on in and not return to my 20year habbit, and be able to put the money I save into something like a nice shiney new macro lense, or gadget bag!

Any one else care to share what their resolutions are?

      Thanks for the thought Ian,

Oh those adverts get on my nerves! the government spending millions of pounds telling people what they probably already know!

I have gone completely cold turkey, i honestly believe that if you really want something, you should just do it. Its all about the will power!

      Day 4.........and counting......hehe!

      Cheers

I would like to lose a stone, so intend to get back to a more suitable diet now that the festive seaston is over. It seems to start for us about mid November. Probably cut down on the wine - well just a bit. Get more exercise - not madly but a short walk in Clumber at least 3 times a week.

Give more thought to my pictures before I take them. Try out macro with a tripod and on and on ... ... ...

        Enough for now.

Because fewer and fewer of our friends were smoking, we became embarrassed about smoking in front of them.

Then if we had invited anyone round, we would go out in the garden and have one before they came. In any case, I hated the smell of smoke in the house. I stopped before my husband. He would say he had stopped, but from time to time I would smell smoke on him. I don't know whether I was cross because he had started again or because I wanted one. So he'd offer me one and he'd say that's the last and we finish off a pack of 10 that evening (whether I liked it or not).

Next day fresh start, no cigs. A few days, weeks, whatever, I would catch him out again, but it became less. We were going on cruise with people who had never known we smoked and they were non-smokers, so at that point he didn't buy any more and we have never smoked since. It was about 5 years ago.

          Good luck. It's worth it.

              Ben,

I started smoking when I was 16. Now I'm still smoking at 39. Planning to attempt to quit in the near future. I observed that most of the cigarettes I smoke are just because my hands are used to open the pack and light a cigarette and not because I really want to smoke.

Though with this thread you reminded me a crazy story which is:

When I came to UK to do my Computer Engineering degree, my English were the basic average English a University student should know. I couldn't understand some local dialects or specific words.
One day an uknown guy came up to me, while I was exploring the Town Center of Colchester and told me something that I didn't understand. It sounded like he called me "fagget". I punched him in the face and we ended up in the Police Station. There, the policemen explained me that he was asking for a cigarette (you also call it "fag" in UK, which I didn't know). Finally, they were trying to persuade that guy not to sue me for punching him and in the end let me free because of my misunderstanding.
The Colchester Police has always been nice to me, even when I was driving in the right lane and flashing them at night the high beam to move themselves on their own right lane!

              Regards

              George

Mine are to get out and about more instead of wasting days off, I always seem to wish I had gone for that drive to a castle or just to see the countryside in general, then I plan to do it the following weekend and never do.

Learn to play my guitar properly instead of messing about on it.

Haha, nice one George, I started when I was 16 also, exaqctly 20years ago.

I had a similar situation when an American chap came into the pub I used to work in, and was asking if we had any cigarettes for sale, he looked very confused when I said we have a fag machine!
