  • How do things go missing ?

If you happen to see a slik mini tripod wandering about on it's own and looking lost, can you point it back towards its home...

I am completely at a loss to figure out how things go missing.

It's been in the same place for years, gets used and put back, then today when I want to use it.... Gone.

Searched all over the place, racked my brains, asked everyone.... Nothing

I remember there was a thread on this (or one of the other sites) about the various ideas people have about "interdimentional abductions" of things, but that too seems to have disappeared.

There has been a marked increase in black cat (left to right) deja vu, while looking out of the front window, so maybe Ian's resetting more than just this site...

I hardly dare ask this but has anyone been tidying up around the place when you weren't there?

And I'm asking because I usually try to do exactly that when David is out of the house and not likely to be back for a while.

I came back from Greece a few days ago minus an 8GB card full of really interesting test shots from the Sony launch there No idea what happened to the card.

Pleased I'm not the only one to have things spirited away.

Graham I bet you had the tripod set up at some location or other then took the camera off to take some handheld shots. You walked away quite happily taking shots willy nilly and forgot all about the tripod. Now the poor thing is standing all alone on some desolate hillside wondering just how long your going to be.

That's a terrible shame. Maybe you left it in one of the cameras you tested at the launch?

Oh! If only that were the case, I'd be really happy...

It's only a foot long, I only ever used it for table top work, no good for out side work...

It really is a complete mystery, and worrying, as the next thing to vanish, might be something important.

Could it have ended up inside one of your other tripod bags, or maybe a rucksack?

David has a mini tripod (Velbon iirc) and that's prone to going walkabouts too. It's usually found inside another tripod bag or one of his kit boxes. But he's never been very tidy and organised so things often end up in the wrong place.

Thought of that already, but we were quiet careful about that when handing the cameras back. Two other cards disappeared too, which weren't in cameras.

It's too bad, but I just have to remind myself to be more careful in future and to back the cards up to my Epson storage viewer asap.

                  Eldest son has come clean...

At least it wasn't a memory failure

LOL ... have sons like that. Ours tend to 'borrow' cameras.
