  • F1 Abu Dhabi Finale

    Yes - it rhymes!

I'm naturally disappointed that my boy Button is not in the hunt today, but it does happen to be his second best every season, so I'm not too down-hearted.

So now it's between Alonso, Webber, Vettel, and (rank outsider it has to be admitted) Hamilton. I'm rooting for Webber; he's worked so hard for this and I think he deserves it, but it has to be said that Ferrari and Alonso have done extremely well to recover to where they are. But the Massa/team orders thing still rankles.

Will Vettel help Webber win on Sunday? I think he will if he's not in a position to win it for himself. It's the honourable thing to do.

It's going to be pretty dramatic one way or another I'm sure!

Yes Im looking forward to this Ian, I think its good that more than one or two are in with a chance. I think Im with you wanting Webber, Hamilton has already won it, Im not keen on Alonso and Vettel has youth on his side, plenty of time for him.
Thanks for the magazines they arrived this morning, its kind that you took the time to box them up and post, hope you did not have to que too long at the posty

I'm a little disappointed, too, that Button didn't make it into the showdown but I'm just hoping he has the chance to improve next year. He started this year fantastically, but we've not seen much of him since (fantastic Brazil race last week though).

Without Button to root for, I don't know who I want to win the WDC now. Each time I pick a name, I hear myself saying "no, actually, I want that one to win".

I don't think I really mind who makes it. I'm a little bit down on Alonso because of the earlier team order incident, but he's done such a fantastic job to get right back in the mix that I don't mind if he wins either (although I would secretly hope it's by more than 7 points).

I think I'm rooting for Webber. As the oldest driver there, I'm hoping that he wins out. The others have many more years left in their career to do it. I suspect, though, that this won't be the case. Vettel will do it if he doesn't go all crazy (as if), otherwise it'll be Alonso.

Secretly I'm wondering if the three of them will take themselves out on the first corner and Lewis will steam ahead and win. With the year we've had, I wouldn't bet against it..!

Not much I can say really other then Ferrari shot themselves in the foot big time. Alonso just could not get the job done and really had no one to blame other then himself. Webber was not in the hunt this weekend it seemed. I should be more upset being a Ferrari fan but am not for some reason which is strange for me. So well done to Vettel and Red Bull for taking both titles and roll on next season, I am missing it already

          Re: F1 Abu Dhabi Finale

I'm pleased that we have yet another brand new WDC in the field. I would have preferred it to be Webber but it just wasn't to be this year. Trouble is, I don't know how many more chances he'll have left. He may have blown his one and only shot. Good luck trying *not* to be number 2 driver next year - it'll even say it on your car!

Much more impressed with Button (and Lewis, but mostly Button because he's been in the pack for the last few months) getting back on the podium and finishing the season on a high note.

Great final podium - new WDC flanked by the two most recent WDCs.

Bit of a shame that Abu Dhabi continues to be a bit of a processional race. It's no wonder they have such a pretty circuit, because we have plenty of time to look at it. At most other racetracks, I'm sure both Alonso and Webber would have made more of a charge. I mean, sitting behind Petrov for the duration? What was that all about?

Anyway, well done to Vettel. Can't wait for 2011 to begin, with fingers crossed for Button (as usual ).
