  • AP's Angela Nicholson visits the BPS

Angela visited the Barking Photographic Society last night and provided a unique insight into the production of the magazine and her role. She described and showed us some very interesting techniques that they use to arrive at the conclusions that make up the equipment reviews and dispelled quite a few myths about the testing of equipment, especially that they get to keep the kit

We also got to see several of her own photographs in discussions on the various techniques that she uses to produce the end result. Many of the techniques presented are now being introduced as capabilities within the latest cameras providing the photographer with a variety of effects previously only available in post processing applications.

All of our members were very appreciative of the level of technical knowledge that we had access to, as throughout the evening, Angela answered the many questions put to her.

Each year the BPS invites guest speakers to our venue at the Eastbury Manor House in Barking, and we have a long tradition of welcoming guests.

I can attest to that - very much welcomed when I did my bit last year

Angela has been chatting about her evening on Facebook, incidentally - it seems she enjoyed her evening very much as well.

      That's really nice to hear

Next year Mark Thackara will be visiting us. Hopefully he will bring the E-3 replacement along for us to play with

Where is a pic of this very photogenic lady Graham at your club. I met Angela last year at a Jessop/Olympus evening and found her quite charming, from memory I think you were there too.

My photography skills deserted me on the night and I some how managed to inadvertently move the mode dial on my mju1030, so the couple I did take do not do justice to the delightful Angela.

The BPS Meets in a superb venue, which you may care to visit.
