  • Who WAS that passing Schumacher?

Opinion seems divided between Di Grassi or Glock - ah well, they're both Virgin drivers

I just loved the tone of Brundle's voice in the commentary!

In all seriousness, I think Schumacher is actually improving and closing the gap to his Merc team mate Rosberg. And he was unlucky at the start of the race.

Jenson was brilliant, though I do conceded it would have been tough if Vettel hadn't retired. IF IF IF....if Jenson hadn't gone off on his out-lap after changing to slicks, then I believe he would have been ahead of Vettel through merit and I don't think the Red Bull could have re-passed on the road, despite being a second a lap faster than Jenson.

IF Vettel hadn't retired, the question is, could Jenson have had him near the end of the race with better preserved tyres? We'll never know...

But the fact is that Jenson won brilliantly and Red Bull are continuing to throw wins away - and Lewis needs to calm down on the radio!

    Roll on Malaysia this weekend!

Re: Who WAS that passing Schumacher?

I wondered if I`d missed the F1 thread, I recorded the race, far too early to get up and usually I can fast forward most of it but this one was watched at normal speed all the way through. The answer is definetly to fit sprinklers to every race circuit just to get it wet enough for the first 10-20 laps and then we get some interesting manouvers, Webber was great entertainment, brilliant call by Button (I thought he was in trouble when Hamilton went past him in the early laps) and it brought him the win, thought it funny to see Schumacher fighting for places among the rookies, Hamilton throwing all his toys out the pram (was it Jensons engineer that suggested Hammy change his tyres?). In all seriousness I think Jenson is a smoother driver and would Hamilton have saved his tyres so well? I doubt it. As you said Ian roll on the next one. Just send some of the british rainy weather ?

Can't wait for Malaysia - I will be up early to watch the practice and qualifying - and the race

I think the race will be pretty close. The McLarens are very fast in a straight line; maybe too fast? They need to sacrifice some of that for increased downforce in the corners if you ask me.

I also think the Mercededs pair will be closer to the front. Can Nico Rosberg make it 3/3 in front of Schumacher - gonna be tough as Schumacher has won in Malaysia three times...

I see that after the first day of practice in Sepang that the McLarens aren't nearly so fast down the straights compared to the rest, and Lewis is fastest... where do I send my consultancy bill to McLaren?
