Re: Is it possible?
Yeah, it is worth using for sure.
I use a USB flash drive of "Imation" which I understand is a US brand or anyway a group of many regional companies spun off from 3M. As you explained, it's nice and convenient. I installed a freeware soft "FastStone Image Viewer" together with some photos. It works just fine. If some of you need much more extensive use of post processing then other free softwares such as GIMP-2 or IrfinView might be better. There seems to be also free spread sheet softwares as well.
As it is not a HDD, very quiet and extremely light (only 7 grams).
If possible i wanted to use it for photo storage purposes but the memory size is not large enough. Mine is just 2 G and the largest one available is 4 G. The price was quite reasonable. I paid yen 1980 (approx. 12 Euro, 18 US$, 9 GBP). - it (old model of course) was 30K yen only three years ago. 15 times of the price I paid.
The memory size, however, might not satisfy Patrick's need. This is an area I'm looking forward to further progress, indeed, as flash memory prices are sharply going down recently.
yoshi
p.s. Imation homepage:
p.s.2 I just learned that 16 G USB memory is available from A-data (not yet familiar with this brand) - compared to mine, 8 times memory size and 6 times in price. Hummm - not sure if it has a secured partition, though.
