OE messages

Anyone know how I can save all the messages stored in my Outlook Express folders. When I try to Export, I get the message that I can export to Outlook or MS Exchange, if I press OK I get an error message, "An error occurred when initializing Mapi" Is there no data file that I can just copy?

I'm on the verge of doing a full system restore, but am loathe to lose my messages for the second time this year

Hi Stephen

Have you tried Edit>Select all, copy and past to a new folder.
I think you will find they can be re-pasted into Outlook Express if you save externally and do a restore.

Mmmm, well its got me beat Patrick. I can copy or move messages to a new folder, but only within OE not to an external folder. It seems impossible to copy and paste a folder full of messages to an external folder. Unless you know otherwise that is

OK then I have just done it another way, Edit>Select All then drag and drop to a newly mad folder it worked for me just.

Yes, that seems to work, many thanks Patrick, this seems to be the answer. Need to do this for each folder now
