Re: Help - Windows will not Boot up

Glad to be of help Dennis.
These boot additions are often the source of problems. As the only OS you will probably want to add is Vista there is no need for a boot aid. Prepare a partition for Vista using your DDS, and installing Vista will detect your XP installation and give you the choice of which to boot each time you fire up. As a matter of fact, most of the leading Linux OS's will do the same if you are ever tempted to try them.
I would recommend Acronis's True Image as a back-up system to avoid the sort of problem you had. I started using it with 98SE and since then it has saved my bacon several times. With XP I had a mobo failure and a HD failure, each time fixed without needing a re-install of Windows. I have only used it once on Vista, which seems to be much more robust, and that time I restored an image from an external HD just to make sure that it would work when needed. Now I make a new image once a week of Vista and my photograph storage location to an external HD. I could never quite trust system restore!
