When my CRT monitor packed up, I went flat panel and would never now dream of going back to a one.
I read that almost all the top manufacturers have now discontinued production of CRT monitors and TV's, only a few lesser brands continuing with them.

My experience is different to yours, Patrick. I mainly use a year old 22 inch iiyama CRT (at 1600x1200) and I find its display much more refined than any of the LCDss I currently have, though I know this will be my last CRT and flat panel displays are improving all the time.

The flat panel I have is a 19" Samsung 193v, very good but not top flight, my only disappointments was when viewing a B/W image. However when I had the Packard Bell for that two weeks B/W images were very much better, down to a better graphics card I presume. It will be interesting to see what The Dell 22" will be like.
I have had notification that it was dispatched today,
Don't know which carrier they use, but It will probably arrive Monday as carriers don't deliver on Saturday as a rule.

well, just came accross my first 'glitch' running Vista on this beastie!

The PC intermittently 'froze' for thirty seconds, then runs again......really rather annoying I have to say!

A quick search found out what the problem was though, opened up the PC, moved the two drives from position 2 and 3 on the mother board, to positions 4 and 5, closed it up, changed the 'boot up' using F2 set up, and it runs beeeaautifully! 10 min fix, but annoying that I had to!

Aha - Julia's laptop does this about avery quarter of an hour - what was the logic behind your remedy? Julia's laptop only has one hard drive though

It's been back to Acer, who claimed to have changed the motherboard. I've received the Vista upgrade CD but not installed it yet.

I have to admit to having no logic behind it Ian, I just searched the Technet forums on the MS website to see if anyone else had the same problem.....may be worth you doing the same and seeing if there is a simple fix.
