  • Uninstalling Incredimail

I feel it is about time that I uninstalled Incredimail.

I downloaded the latest version to see if it would help my problem, which is that all my approved mail including that from DPNow always goes into my Deleted File Box, even though "Approved Sender" is checked.

Now that I have downloaded the new version, that phenomena is still the same, with the added frustration of all junk mail going into my In box. In fact nothing goes into Junk Mail now unless you pay the $39 a year.

I saved my e mail address (Incredimail exported contacts) and they are in csv format (whatever that might mean) and open up in Microsoft Excell.

Can anyone tell me how toget them into the Outlook Express address book?

Once I have done that and confirmed that OE is working correctly, I will try to uninstall Incredimail, which by all accounts is not easy.

    Looking forward to your comments.

Audrey, I recently dumped Incredimail, though for different reasons. Contacts are easy enough to import into OE and its pretty much a case of using the commands in the File menu to import address book. CSV means Comma Separated Value, which is exactly what it looks like if you were to open the file in Notepad or similar.

However, Have you ever tried to set up rules in Incredimail? Its the same in OE, so you can do it there as well. This forces email to behave as you want and therefore you can tell mail from a particular source to go straight to a specific folder. If yours is not doing as its told check out the rules dialogue first.

I think you made a mistake installing the latest version of Incredimail as it overwrites the previous installation and the junk mail folder that used to be free. As you have found out you now have to buy a years subscription. Since moving to OE I discovered that my AV program, PCillin, integrates with it and there is a Spam filtering system etc which does the same as your Junk mail in Incredimail. I f you buy the latest version from the Trust website you can use it on 3 different machines.

      Hi Audrey,

Why not try Thunderbird? It's simple to set up and very secure, it just doesn't have all those bells and whistles. As a bonus it is absolutely free!

        Audrey,

I don't use currently any e-mail clients. Though in Outlook Express there is somewhere an option in the menu that lets you if I remember well to import contacts from other e-mail clients.
Also as rogleale suggested, Mozilla Thunderbird which I have tried in the past is a very good e-mail software and is also freeware.

          Re: Uninstalling Incredimail

          Thanks Stephen.

In between watching Elton John's 60th birthday bash, I have also being trying to transfer my address book from Incredimail to OE.

After several attempts, I think I have done it.

Someone will be getting a TEST e mail shortly.

"Have you ever tried to set up rules in Incredimail? Its the same in OE, so you can do it there as well. This forces email to behave as you want and therefore you can tell mail from a particular source to go straight to a specific folder."

Yes Stephen, and it had worked relatively well for a few years, until I did my clean up, after which it reversed all my options and I could not reverse them, that is why I thought by downloading the latest version it might reset the defaults in order for me to customise it, but it didn't and neither was I able to use Junk Mail!

I had looked on their FAQ and other people had had the problem of "Approved" mail going into their "Delete Box", also. ATM I can't remember what the answer was, but it can't have been straight forward or I would have done it.

Currently I am using AVG a/v program which is free and is working very well. Every time an e mail arrives AVG pops up in my systray whilst it is scanning it.

"If you buy the latest version from the Trust website you can use it on 3 different machines."

          Which Trust website?

          Thanks for your help.

            Re: Uninstalling Incredimail

            I also recently uninstalled incredimail.
I went back to Outlook Express and found that my current emails + address book went with me without me doing anything.
The only thing that could have influenced this I feel was that I reset up OE before uninstalling incredimail. Upon opening OE after the reset up a popup asked me if I wanted to make OE my main email prog. I clicked yes and that's it. All the stuff in incredimail at that time was showing up in OE. I then went and uninstalled incredimail.

Just to up date you all.

As Roger and George suggested (and because I use Mozilla Firefox) I downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird.

I have imported my E mail addresses from Incredimail, but they still say

              "Incredimail Exported Contacts

I would have liked to have them go straight into

              "Personal Address Book"

Anyway mail is coming in and going out.

I have now uninstalled Incredimail, done a search and all the files seem to have gone.

I have also also imported my address book into Outlook Express, just incase Thunderbird doesn't work to my liking.

When my mail comes into Thunderbird, it comes in as Plain Text. This morning I thought I saw an option - Plain Text or Rich Text and I checked "Rich Text". Atm I can't see that option. I am sure it will be there somewhere.

Thank you all for your help. I shall see how I get on with it.

I am saying "Plain Text", but I am not sure what Plain Text is, so I am attaching a screengrab and someone I am sure will tell me.

I found the options and they are:

                Original HTML
                Simple HTMl or
                Plain Text

(So obviously I did not check "Rich Text.")

                I can't remember which option I checked.

Can you please tell me which one to check?

I just want to receive my e mails as they are sent.

                  Audrey,

Plain Text means excatly what it says: no Graphic User Interface actually. Everything will appear as a normal text in a notepad.
Switch to both other option to see how things appear and keep the one that satisfies you most.
These options are able to change at any time you wish.
