  • error message on images

    Dear All,

I am transferring files via cut and paste from my Cf card to my hard drives. I have checked using two cards but am getting the same error message.

"An unexpected error is preventing operation, Make a note of this error code, which might be useful if the get additional help to resolve this problem.

Error 0x80070456. The media in the drive may have changed."

It then lists a specific file number. On a test of 40 images it happens to 2.

I am using windows vista and an in built card reader. The camera is a 5d

    thanks

      Re: error message on images

      Hi,

will try that. have also tried using zoombrowser from canon to transfer the files and all was okay have also tried on the laptop which is XP and all is fine with cut and paste.

So therefire I believe not a card issue, not a card reader issue, and thank the maker, not a camera issue. so must be a Vista issue.

I would love to meet the chief tester for microsoft and expalin the principles of full testing before release.

      anyone else running vista?

ZOOMBROWSER I thought you had Lightroom Josh, with its own built in import facility.

If you can clarify also, are you attempting to copy and paste 40 Raw files in one go If so, I would suggest that herein lies the problem

          Re: error message on images

          Josh,

          Try this:

See if you can see all thumbnails straight from the card before you copy them to the hard disk. Some thumbnails might show up correclty and some might not. Those that don't show a thumbnail of the picture might cause the problem.
Then select all thumbnails that the photos shw up correctly on them and try to copy only those in your hard disk.

In other words I'm saying that there might be some corrupted photos already in the CF card and that when tried to be copied to the hard disk causing this error, thus preventing even the good photos from being copied to the hard disk.

If this is the case then you need to format your CF card and if problem still persists after the format, then you might need to purchase a new CF card.

            Re: error message on images

            thanks both,

the issue seems to be vista as I can copy and paste 40+ raw files in XP on a laptop with less RAM.

Yes I used zoombrowser as it cam up as an option as soon as I put the card in the slot. Simple as that. First and probably only tiem I will use zoombrowser over lightroom.

            Best Regards
