Mouse cursor missing - desktop

Since Windows 10 update 2 days ago, my computer stuck when restarting and the text said they were checking/repairing it and there was a percentage showing the progress. It then launched properly without the mouse cursor.

It is a desk top computer and I have absolutely no way of doing anything without the mouse.

I have tried 3 different mice and now have the corded mouse installed. All mice work on other computers, but I am talking my main computer with all my photos on.

I have tried hitting the Windows key and R to bring up the run box to no avail. This seems to be a common problem, but most of the advice relates to laptops.

Can any one help me please?

I suggest you do a system restore to the date before your last update was installed.

Thanks Ron, but the Windows logo plus U did not open Ease of Access box and the other suggestion says click on search but I have no cursor showing. Thanks anyway.

I have seen where the mouse becomes diabled during updates and you need to enable it again. I'll keep reading and hoping that someone may tell me how to get into my computer without mouse.

Try booting into safe mode. That may give you a way of getting into the system. Your screen display will look awful as windows only loads the basic drivers in safe mode. Tapping F8 key immediately after switch on should get you into safe mode. From there you can do quite a lot of trouble shooting to sort things out.

I have already done that, but did not manage to get into safe mode. I remember when my PC was under warranty the tech engineer got me to hit F12 to reboot and at that time it worked, however, neither F8 nor F12 work and now I can't even start it! I think I read where it has been made difficult for people to start the PC in safe mode as Windows 10 does an automatic repair so perhaps that is why it is not working. When I have previously done it, it was before Windows 10 was installed.

I am wondering if I did the Win 10 update on my laptop, made a recovery disc and then tried to use it on my PC.

I will have to look up how to make a recovery disc.

Oh dear, it just goes on and on. One problem solved then two more follow on to keep you on your toes! Here's hoping you'll getthings back as you want them soon.

I sorely miss my kit, Photoshop, large laptop etc but am gradually adapting with what I have instead of hankering after what I no longer have.

I was indeed falling apart after losing so much, so many close family members too within such a short time. My best friend's son also had a very serious accident, 2016 was a bad year, to put it mildly!

Diagnosed with PTSD and counselling was useless so I requested help from a Psychologist. She's been brilliant and I'm gradually beginning to pick up the pieces with her help and support. We're hoping to get out and about later today in fact, we'll see how things work out.

Ian's new home page has also had a very positive effect, got me discovering all sorts of things I can do evens th minimal equipment.
Do look at the home page, it's very interesting and more to come soon.

Anyway, good luck with the computer and software issues.
