Windows 10

[Autumn]

I downloaded Windows 10 last week and now my Search box does not work.

I have Googled for the answer, and it appears many people have had/got this problem. There seems to be a lot of waffle about it but no solution.

Can anyone help me to get my Search box working or come up with a suggestion (like going back to Windows 7)?

Have you got access to Cortana which should be reached by the 4 windows flag at the bottom left of the screen. It does the same job.

I have six different Windows 10 PCs and every one of them has a different look when clicking on the Flag. On all of them, I click the flag and begin typing and it does conduct the search.

I've been experimenting with Edge and bounce back and forth between it and Chrome. One of the major annoyances with it is that it's difficult to change the default search engine from Bing to Google. I finally came up with a solution and put together a [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpZYcIIVUtA"]short video[/ame] explaining how.

No I haven't got Cortana. I am using a desktop which is not voice activated. Perhaps I should sit with headphones on and a mic attached!

I have Cortana on my Windows 8.1 phone (Nokia).

If I right or left click on the white flag at the bottom left there are many options but none are Cortana.

The "Search the web and Windows" box at the side of the white flag is there, pale grey text on mid grey background, but when I click on it nothing happens.

It looks like a common fault, but I have not yet found the solution.

With regard to your search engine, I use Mozilla Firefox, but it seems to have changed itself to Yahoo!
