Can anyone explain how to find out the amount of used space and available space there is on a Network Hard Drive. ?

not a windows user I'm afraid but perhaps the process is the same. I connect to the network drive and open the primary folder and press cmd I and that tells me. In windows don't you right click on the folder or the drive and select properties?

if you open windows explorer, you should be able to just right click on the drive and select properties. this should tell you what you're after
if you want to see WHERE the space is going, i can recommend the freebie software called scanner (http://www.steffengerlach.de/freeware/index.html) which is one i've been using for years.Comment

What network drive is this?
When I used to have a network drive, it had its own built-in server which you would log into via your browser. That would let you do everything with it, including check the amount of space.
Secondary to that was the ability to map folders on the network drive to drive letters on your local machine, and they would appear as drives and so would indicate how much space is available/used like any other local drive would.
I guess it all depends on your network drive, though.Comment

Many Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to reply. To those who suggested to Right click on the drive name and then Properties - I have done that but it does not give you any info on space used.
I think JSR has given me the solution I need - to log on to it via the browser as I seem to remember doing that when I first got the drive, unfortunately I have forgotten what one has to type into the browser as the address. I will have to contact Iomega the makers for advice. However for the time being I have found a way of finding the amount of space used in each folder on the drive by using ''Properties ' on each.Comment

Usually, the network drive will get its IP address from your router - probably something like 192.168.1.100 (where the last number can be anything from 0-255). You'd then just type http://192.168.1.100 into your browser. Sometimes it can be accessed by name (my Freecom drive was something like http://fsg IIRC).Originally posted by DennisP View Post

My Freecom drive at the time also came with an app you could run to set things like that up (you just installed it to Windows, run it, and it would scan the network looking for the drive) - it didn't always work, but it did sometimes...Comment

I am pleased to tell you all that I have been on the Iomega web site,obtained some useful information. I then found the original CD which came with the drive and from it installed the Hard Drive Discovery tool and run it. I now know that it is a 320GB drive the used space is38.5GB and free space 259GB. Yippee-Succsess
