  • dpnow = attack page? --- I donot get it.

I got a peculiar warning today when I tried to lurk dpnow as usual. I got the message that dpnow is "attack page" (see pc#1) and the more details were given by the pic #2. I used firefox. Last night no problem at all but today suddenly the PC showed that warning.
Then I changed the browser to IE9. When I wanted to log in , it shows back the usual message "thank you for logging in " but then goes back to the log in page again. I repeated this process countless times.
So I went back again to Firefox (the latest version) and ignored the warning message.

Is this a phenomenon that only I got or shared by somebody else?

I'm getting the warnings too. I've sent the information to Ian and hopefully he'll be able to sort it out later this morning.

I also ignored the warning so I could get in a post to let you know I've informed Ian about what's happening.

Morning all - I am looking into this and it has been reported on our other site e-group.uk.net as well. They share the same server.

Frustratingly I can't see the problem at my end but I am in touch with our hosting company to see how we can resolve the problem.

Can I just ask if it's limited to the forum or do you see the warning elsewhere on the site?

I get the problem on the forum page here and on UK E system. On Four Thirds user I can go to the main forum page OK but get it if I open any thread.

Assume it's tied into one of the adverts. It started about 08:30 last night.

I'm getting it right across the entire site.

I can bypass it if I click on 'ignore this warning' - then when I get into the site and/or forums, using Firefox, I can disable the warning compketely by clcking on 'this isn't an attack site' on an option along the top of Firefox.

I can't get rid of it altogether though. It comes back next time I try to visit, so I have to go through the procedure again.

OK, at last I have seen the warning.

It could be coming from a rogue ad from one of our ad agencies so we're in the process of switching those ads off.

The problem is that I think we have been black-listed so even fixing the problem may not prevent the warnings from appearing, but as long as your anti-virus and firewall software is up to date and you follow normal precautions there should be no danger in browsing here.

              I will keep you updated!

No issues around here, so must have been some regional ads.
Hopefully the sites get away with it and malware scanners are smart enough to understand the ad issue. Actually I have seen the issue once or twice in past year on other legit sites.

Btw you can be infected even with a brand new comp:

Our server has been scanned for malware and nothing has been detected. There are other scans underway for less obvious issues. It's pointing more to a malicious ad having been served on our site via one of our ad partners. If the analysis of our server remains negative for any malware I will notify Google to that we think we are problem-free and in the mean time we may suspend partner ads apart form Google ones.

By the way - a site warning is all very well, but has anyone here actually noticed a virus or malware detection triggered by their security software?

No. There's never been anything triggered, never had any indication there was anything suspicious on the site.

I'm still getting the alert, still ignoring it.

Did you get the security update for IE earlier today? Unusual as it is normally Thursdays.
