The sales event for the new model starts on Sept. 13th in case of Tokyo. So most likely it will be announced on the previous day or earlier.

It is unknown if the new flagship model is micro 4/3rds or original 4/3rds.

Oly president clealy mentioned at the announcement briefing that Oly had at the moment no plan at all to continuously develop the 4/3rds bodies and dedicated lenses for the original 4/3rds. And that Oly would focus on R&D of micro 4/3rds and dedicated lenses for it only.

The SALES of E-5 (the flagship of original 4/3rds that was launched three years ago) and lenses for orginal 4/3rds are however continued.

So Oly seems to virtually retreat from the ORIGINAL 4/3rds dSLR system.

They referred to the market tendency in these years for the justification of their decision. That is, more toward compact interchangeable lens system (mirror-less).
